SNACK PACKAGING

According to global research studies, 42% of people in the United States are obese. Childhood obesity is particularly prevalent in the five boroughs of New York City. Root causes identified behind this social issue include constant snacking, sedentary screen-based lifestyles, the close proximity of fast-food outlets, and limited opportunities for outdoor physical activity due to safety concerns.

To address this issue, a concept for mineral-based snacks was introduced to shift carbohydrate intake toward essential minerals without disrupting existing eating habits. The front panel of the packaging features visually striking, playful teenage models, while the back panel encourages teenagers to learn about and practice physical activities. A QR code directs users to video tutorials hosted by fitness guides, with all activities designed to be performed in limited indoor spaces.

Profits generated from online views are directly allocated to the American Obesity Society to support the development of further solutions. The project was driven to its final execution by following the principles of Human-Centered Design. The process included inspiration, problem framing, secondary research, interviews, immersion, and analog inspiration methods. All visual aesthetics were determined based on insights gained through these experiments.
